QBE Re was formed to bring together all of QBE’s global reinsurance capabilities, allowing us to provide a consistent, streamlined service to our clients. Today, we offer a range of Property, Casualty, Specialty and Life solutions to customers around the world from our offices in London, Dublin, Brussels, Bermuda and New York.

Unlike many mid-sized reinsurers, we offer a strong geographical spread and a choice of security, backed by in-depth expertise and a consistent approach to lines and markets.

Meet our executive team

Jonathan Parry

Jonathan has 30 years’ experience in the London reinsurance market. He joined Lloyd's Syndicate 566 in 2000 and became Active Underwriter in 2005. In 2010, he was appointed Managing Director of QBE's Reinsurance & Specialist division. Today, he leads QBE Re.

Luc Boghe

Luc worked in the Reinsurance department of KBC Insurance until 1987, when he joined Secura. There he held various roles, including managing the Finance and Accounting team and running the Underwriting (Non-Life) team. He was appointed Managing Director in 2005 and, following the acquisition of Secura by QBE, he became General Manager of QBE Re Brussels and Head of Life.

Paul Horgan

Paul started his career in 1991 at St Paul Re. In 2000, he joined Syndicate 566 (part of the LIMIT Managing Agency) shortly after the takeover by QBE, where he held a range of roles, including managing the North American Property treaty account, the North American Casualty account and International Property teams in London and Dublin. In 2012, Paul was named Head of Property.

Christopher Larson

Chris began his career at AIG in 1996 and joined QBE Re in 1998, supporting Casualty assumed treaty business. In 2012, Chris became Head of Global Casualty and US multi-line business. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Broker Reinsurance Market Association.

Peter Wilkins

Peter started his career at Lloyd’s in 1986 as an Underwriting Assistant. In 1992, he joined Duncanson & Holt, where he became an Underwriter. In 1999, he joined QBE Re as Head of Personal Accident and in 2008, he took on responsibility for Marine and Aviation treaty business. In 2012, he became Head of Specialty, with the added responsibility of managing the US Healthcare portfolio.

David Shears

David started his career in 1983 as an Underwriting Assistant, before moving into Claims in 1988. He held a variety of roles over the next 12 years, handling a large number of high-value, complex claims. Following the purchase of LIMIT by QBE in 2000, David held several roles at QBE, before being appointed Head of QBE Re Claims in 2012.

Piet Haers

With a degree in Computer Science and a Masters in Statistics, Piet started in reinsurance in 1996 when he joined Secura, which was taken over by QBE Re in 2010. He has been involved in various activities from R&D to marketing, IT, pricing and underwriting, and he is now responsible for Operations. Piet is also a guest lecturer in reinsurance at the University of Brussels.

Sophie Ladoucette

Sophie started as a researcher in 1999, while doing a PhD in Economics. In 2003, she became a researcher in Mathematics at the Technical University of Eindhoven. In 2005, she extended her career in academic research at the University of Leuven, while doing a second PhD in Mathematics. In 2007, Sophie joined Secura and in 2014, she was appointed Head of Analytics for QBE Re.
